Professional Area

As an emergency physician, expertise in the treatment of acute illness and injury. As an addiction specialist, expertise in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders. Research expertise in developing and testing interventions for substance use disorder in the emergency department setting.


For the scientific development, empirical testing and life-saving clinical implementation of novel frontline substance use interventions; establishing the value of initiating both urgent and longer-term treatments in a new clinical venue, the hospital Emergency Department; and providing and testing these methods in real-world clinical settings across New England and nationally.
