
Senior Director, Lumentum (ret.)
Edmond Murphy was elected to CASE membership in 2006. Ed served as Treasurer during some of the most challenging times for the Academy. With a steady hand and thoughtful guidance, Ed helped the Academy navigate through the challenges and created a stable foundation for future growth. Ed’s tenure as Treasurer was from 2016 to 2024. Throughout his tenure, he was focused on the future of CASE.
Ed completed a distinguished career supporting the development of integrated optics for fiber-optic communications at Lumentum. At his retirement, Ed was a Senior Director supporting intellectual property activities. Before that, he was instrumental in supporting the Connecticut operation that was a center of excellence for lithium niobate component development and manufacturing. Before joining Lumentum, Ed served various roles at Lucent Technology and Bell Labs.
Ed received a B.S. in chemistry from Boston College and a Ph.D. in chemical physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
