of the Connecticut General Assembly
AN ACT CONCERNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CONNECTICUT ACADEMY OF SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, INC.
Sec. 2. The purpose of the corporation shall be to foster science and engineering, to promote the application of science and engineering to human health and welfare, and to study and report upon any subject within its competence when appropriate. In particular, the corporation shall: (a) encourge both specialized and interdisciplinary discourse among its members and with other members of the technical community by means of meetings, symposia, reports and publications, and by its example set the highest standards therefor; (b) provide guidance to the people and the government of the state of Connecticut, upon request, in the application of science and engineering to the economic and social welfare; (c) provide guidance to industry and commerce in the state of Connecticut, upon request; (d) initiate reports to the people and the government of the state of Connecticut when advances in science and engineering raise implications that impact upon public policy; and (e) encourage and foster science and engineering education of the highest quality, and promote interest in science and engineering on the part of the public, especially young people.
